Many of us are so used to facing challenges alone, unaware of the fact that there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of other people just like you.  No matter what you are dealing with, be it major or minor, there are ways to get help and support.

Professionals consult with peers, so why shouldn’t ordinary people reach out to get help when life gets tough? There are classes and support groups for almost everything that creates disharmony in your life. Fortunately, with access to the internet there is a tremendous amount of information available (although it may not always be accurate so check your sources). There are classes, meetings, support groups and therapy groups where you can get ideas, suggestions, connect with others, and be heard and understood.

If you are like me, you may find yourself sometimes taking on what’s not yours. I like solving problems, think I have a lot to offer, and enjoy helping others.  So what’s the matter with that?

When I do for others what they can do for themselves:

1. I take away the opportunity for them to solve their own problems and build confidence, skills and resiliency.

2. It prevents them from finding their way, maybe having to struggle to grow their own wings.

3. I may be giving the message that they aren’t capable or that I don’t trust them to solve their own problems.

4. It puts the focus on them and off of me. Then I have to ask myself, Who’s life am I living?

Just think how life would be if everyone took care of what was their’s to handle.  It would free up those of us who tend to over do and allow others the chance to learn and grow.

Love, Health & Happiness,

Phyllis
