Greens, Greens, GreensGreens have been touted as some of the healthiest foods available.  Some people love them, while others don’t care for them, or rather, they haven’t found a way to prepare them that is enjoyable.

The “greens” food group includes spinach, kale, bok choy, beet greens, chard, collard greens and mustard greens, among others.

Below are three very different ways of preparing greens.

Try a variety of greens and get creative. You could add sautéed greens to quinoa, raw spinach to soup or a salad, bok choy to a stir-fry or drink your greens after putting them in a juicer.

May you find some recipes to enjoy the health benefits of eating or drinking greens!

Juicing Tips and RecipesLast week I wrote What’s The Buzz About Juicing, and today I’m going to share some tips and recipes.

If you don’t already have a juicer, look for one with a large opening to easily fit fruit and vegetables without a lot of cutting.

It is best to drink freshly juiced produce at the time of juicing or within 48 hours.

Experiment with different combinations of vegetables and fruit.

Use vegetables primarily and add a small amount of fruit to sweeten.

Here are some recipe combinations to get started:

Cucumber, celery, kale, apple

Cucumber, celery, kale, pear

Cucumber, celery, kale, pineapple

Beets, carrots, cucumber, parsley

What's The Buzz About Juicing?A lot of people have been asking about juicing lately.  It seems like the latest craze. Is it real or just a fad?

I have personally seen the benefits of juicing in two people I am close to.  One has used juicing to get healthy and lose weight, and as a result he has been able to get off of high blood pressure medication and eliminate the need to use a sleep apnea machine.  The other has used juicing while going through radiation treatment after cancer surgery.  She has expressed having more energy, and over all feeling healthier when she drinks juiced vegetables and fruit.

Juicing provides bio-available nutrients to our cells without the need of our body to breakdown food or fiber, making the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients easy to absorb.

Love, Health & Happiness,

Phyllis
