How about your pre-teen or teenage kids cooking once a week? They are capable of making sandwiches, a salad, reheating leftovers, soup, or following a recipe.
There are many benefits to assigning family members “cooking” nights.
1. It gives the person who primarily cooks a night off.
2. It helps build confidence in the kitchen, a useful life skill.
3. It empowers the one cooking to decide what is going to be served, be it a simple sandwich, soup, or a 3-course meal.
4. It can bring a family together by sharing the responsibility of feeding each other.
With a little planning ahead your family can take turns choosing and preparing nightly meals. And remember to give complements to the chef!
