Do you ever stop to consider how you think about the events of your day?  We all have things that go well and fall into place AND things that go wrong and challenge us.  What do you focus on?  Do you define yourself by your mistakes or your achievements, the things that go wrong or the things that go well?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the negative things that happen.  Just getting out of the house in the morning can be a challenge, then if you drive in traffic, are running late, forget something important… the list goes on and all of these mini events add up.  If this happens more days than not, and you find yourself focusing on all of the things that go wrong, there is hope!

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Turn your focus onto the things that go right.  It’s like turning the radio to a different station, like from rap to jazz or country to classical.  Look and listen for the positive things that unfold through out your day, and acknowledge them in your mind, just like you would have labeled something that went wrong.

You may also want to look at what you have control over and what you don’t.  Can you change your routine?  Can you plan ahead to be better prepared for your day?  Can you delegate a responsibility to someone else at home or at work?  Can you handle a difficult person in a different way?  Might it feel better to slow down rather than rush around?

Look at how other people handle life’s challenges, especially people who lean towards focusing on what is going right.  There is a lot that can be learned!
